Top 5 : Capetown, South Africa

"I never knew of a morning in Africa when I woke up that I was not happy." -Ernest Hemingway  My sentiments exactly!  If you are headed to Capetown make sure these 5 activities are at the top of your list.

Capetown is one of the most gorgeous cities I've traveled to.  It is the perfect jumping off point for a longer holiday around South Africa, or a long stay.  There are so many things to do, see and eat.  It's a hard job but somebody's got to do it...Top 5 : Capetown.

1) Tour from Afar (Boat or Helicopter)

Maybe not the most obvious choice, but taking a guided tour by air or water gives you the best views of the city and the scenery.  By air you can see the famous Seal Island, Cape Point, and so much more.

If you take a boat tour do a sunset cruise.  The city at dusk is breathtaking.

2) Ascend Table Mountain

You cannot fail to get an amazing photo from the top of Table Mountain.

While you're up there you get to chill with these furry little guys (Dassies).

3) Stroll Around V&A Waterfront

Calling all history buffs and foodies!  Built in 1860 the V&A Waterfront area was named after Queen Victoria and her son Alfred.  Loads upon loads of restaurants are situated in this cute area.  The seafood is out of this world.

Best meal of my life here.  Two words: Lobster Thermidor.

4) Camp's Bay

Home of the 12 Apostles (no, not some crusty old guys from a history book), a range of 12 mountain peaks.  They are the perfect backdrop to a pristine and shockingly uncrowded beach.  The beachy vibe and great nightlife make the Camp's Bay area well worth an overnight stay.

5) Cape Point/Cape of Good Hope

Does this one need an explanation?  Who would turn up the chance to visit the southern most point of the African continent?  Well, actually, the southern most (by just a smidge) is nearby Cape Agulhas.

 Which way to Georgia?

You never know who you'll see along the side of the road on your way there.

Seriously, this should be a top 15 list.  What were your favorite activities in Capetown?  What's on your to-do list?
